baked ham w/sauce

Fresh ham is an uncured hind leg of pork. Country ham is uncooked, cured, dried, smoked-or-unsmoked, made from a single piece of meat from the hind leg of a hog or from a single piece of meat from a pork shoulder (picnic ham).

Baked Ham

1 large fresh ham

Bake ham at 350, face down, for 75 minutes, covered with foil. Remove foil after 75 minutes and brush with glaze. Return to the oven and add 1 cup of OJ and 1 cup of ginger ale to the bottom of the pan. Bank uncovered for 30 minutes. Baste every 10 minutes.

Glaze

1 jar of orange marmalade
2 Tablespoons of Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon of grated ginger

Mix together and use to glaze the ham while baking.

Sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 Tablespoons of orange juice

After removing ham from the baking pan add brown sugar and cinnamon to your baking pan and place on your stove top. Combine cornstarch and orange juice in a separate bowl and add this mixture to the pan. Heat baking pan and cook until sauce thickens. Add more cornstarch/orange juice mixture if you want a thicker sauce.
