play dough fun

My kids love to play with play dough.  They can spend hours sculpting animals, creating pretend foods, and using cookie cutters to make shapes, letters and numbers.  It’s more fun if you make it yourself, so here is an easy recipe to make at home.

1 cup of flour
1 Tablespoon cream of tarter
½ cup of salt
1 cup of water
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
food coloring 6-8 drops

In a medium sauce pan add flour, cream of tarter, and salt. Add water, oil, and food coloring and cook over medium-low heat. Continue to stir mixture until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan and it becomes too hard to stir. Remove from heat and knead the dough on the counter until smooth.

Store play dough in a plastic bag to keep from drying out.
