bacon water chestnuts
Every time I take these tasty crowed pleasing appetizers to a party…they are gone within the first half hour of the party.
1 can of whole water chestnuts
1 package of bacon, each strip cut into thirds
½ cup ketchup
½ cup white sugar
toothpicks
Cut each water chestnut in half and wrap with 1/3 piece strip of bacon. Secure with a toothpick.
Bake wrapped chestnut on a shallow cookie sheet for 35 minutes at 350. After 35 minutes, drain the grease from the pan.
Combine sugar and catsup in a bowl and pour over the chestnuts to coat evenly. Lower the over temperature to 300 and return chestnuts to the oven. Continue to bake for another 30-45 minutes.
